Cheer Up

I am on the cusp of turning 33, and yet I will still howl with laughter at stuff like this. I don’t care if I can’t hear them fancy teenster ring tones. This makes me feel young and stupid.

Aswang Movie

My sister is filming a movie. The director, Jordan Clark, is writing a blog about his filming process. I found it interesting, but you can make up your own mind. Here it is.

I am (almost) old.

The CBC Radio 3 blog has a story about a high pitched noise that only young people can hear. It was originally intended to get rid of the loitering masses, but instead has been turned around by kids and used as a ringtone that oldies cannot hear. I tried to listen to the ring tone […]

Flickrbomb!

I have posted dozens of pics on Flickr (including an entire set of our Hawaiian trip just before Christmas 2005) in the past couple of days. I will probably continue to do more for a bit until I feel like I have caught up. Enjoy.

Oh, fer Crissakes!

I look forward to Rrrroll up the Rim season at Tim Horton’s. And now I find out that all is not sweet in doughnut land? It’s like breaking the news about Santa Claus all over again.

Not Fishing

This is not fishing. I have no idea what language they are speaking – Portuguese maybe? I can’t tell. Thanks to Leanne for the tip.

BC Budget Shoes

It really irks me to see the news media take our Finance Minister to task for the shoes she bought to present the budget (an old BC tradition). I don’t give a rat’s ass about what she spends on her shoes as long as she doesn’t spend my tax money on it. Did taxpayers buy […]

Olympics

Very excited about this. Even more excited that they will be in our fair city in four short years. A bit sad that this is the last CBC coverage I will see of the Olympics in some time.

Shaking Hands, Shaking Heads

I could not believe my eyes as I watched the recent Harper photo op turn into the most mechanical display of humanity EVER. The guy shakes hands with his kids when he drops them off at school! No hug? No kisses? No, “Have a great day guys!”. Even a warm smile and a wave as […]

Review – The Office (UK version) Series 1

I finally found a place nearby called Shlockbuster that rents this series. The Rogers Video on Lonsdale has only the Office Christmas Special in stock and claims that the other videos are constantly stolen once they are rented. Anyhow, the original UK version of this show is worth a rental. If you have seen the […]

Electioneeristingness

So I might as well talk about it now that it’s all over. The Canadian election ended in the most likely of scenarios: a Conservative minority. I know what you’re asking, “Jerome, what does this mean to you?” Well: – we get free money just for breeding. For the record, this does not mean we […]

I want it: Harmony Remote

I have wanted one of these for a long time, even before they were purchased by Logitech. But now there is a ‘value’ model for $129 CDN. The problem is that I have no idea why this model is so much cheaper than the $200 ones that they sell. I am pretty sure that my […]

Novel Idea – CEOs not beholden to shareholders

There is an article in Business Week Online in which Harvard professor and author Clayton Christensen is interviewed. Most of the article concerns why Apple’s strategy of proprietary technology will fail (as opposed to a strategy of licensing out its innovations). But at the end of the article he explains: I’ve been thinking about this […]

Upcoming CBC redesign

I recently read an article in Macleans that told about a foreboding CBC redesign. But more than just fancy graphics and possibly new music to begin newscasts, there are changes afoot to the style of reporting. This worries me. The CBC people who were quoted in the article said that their surveys and focus groups […]

Two Hawaii

We are officially back from Hawaii, but this will not stop me from writing about it. So suck it up and keep reading or go away. Hawaii (and all other tropical nations that I have visited thus far) suffers from a serious ant problem. I am talking of the tiny and mostly harmless food-eating ants […]
